Black Joy

In honor of Black History Month (which, truthfully, is every month), I had the privilege of photographing a powerful yet simple portrait series featuring Shakirah—a hairstylist, model, and creative director in the fashion industry. The concept, created by Venezuelan makeup artist Valeria Leroux, was inspired by her child, who is both Latino and Black, as a tribute to their identity and heritage.
